Shoveling for Food

"Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
"Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
"The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ -
Jesus
That about sums up the "will shovel for food" food drive Saturday. You sure demonstrated what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Great Job Crew!!

Winners! / Food Drive / Updates

Liz s., Suzy s. and Renee H. all recognized Zach and Joey hiding behind the folders. Your reward will be waiting for you Sunday!

Remember the food drive tommorrow 11:00-2:00. Dress for the weather as we will be outside most of the time. Pray that God will use this food drive to bless the many families in our community struggleing to put food on their tables.

Ladies don't forget Sunday with Lynnsy Craft. This will also be a great oppartunity to invite your girlfriends.

Don't feel left out if you are a boy, we didn't forget about you. We will be in the sanctuary and eventually the gym for an evening just a little out of the ordinary:)

Thats all I have for now. See all of you tommorrow and see you senior highers tonight at FNT. Have a great weekend Crew!

A Great Youth Group

Sooooo.. What did you think of Pastor Chad ? (guest speaker Sunday night). He asked the question "what does it take to be a great youth group?", and then shared 3 things:

  1. The power of God
  2. The presence of God
  3. and Principals

I will be sharing in future post, some thoughts on this, and why I believe all three are must- haves if our desire is to be great for God.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this, or the message Sunday night so don't be bashful.... go ahead......you can do it..... leave your comment . (you never know how God might use it:)

Updates

Happy Friday everyone- Winter is back, just in time for downhill tubing tommorrow (Sat.) at Pando. Did you know that the snowboard and the sport of snowboarding began at Pando? It will be chilly tommorrow so make sure you dress up. Be here @2:45 pick-up 8:30.

Crew Sunday night- Don't miss this: we have a visitor coming- Pastor Chad Moore from South Carolina will be speaking Sunday night. He is the youth pastor at his church and is very passionate about taking our faith and what we believe beyond the walls of our churches. He is ubber exited to share with us Sunday, so keep him in your prayers as he makes the drive up. (He is bringing his youth group to Pando Sun. afternoon, some of them have never seen snow!)

F.N.T. (Friday night Thing)- Senior High Next week Friday Jan. 25, 7pm-1am. More post in future. In the mean time can you guess who is hiding behind the folders below? Skittles to the first 4 correct guesses.

Tuesday

Souper Bowl of Caring

Wow you guys are awesome! I just grabbed the sign-up sheets for the food drive and it looks as if everyone signed up Sunday night! Lets all be praying for Jesus to to reveal Himself to our community through Calvary Crew as we collect this food for Project Hope and the families that will benefit from it.-Remember the Food drive is January 26 11:00am-2:00pm. If you have any ideas (promotion, colection ideas etc.) leave a comment.
This is where the food is going-
Annetta's Pantry (at Project Hope) serves as an open door, through which people walk and find that their needs are deeper than that of food. Annetta's Pantry will distribute approximately 100,000 lbs of food this year. Project Hope Clearinghouse serves the community and the local churches by providing a single source to refer needs for financial assistance. We aid those in need with resources for basic living needs such as: housing, utilities, prescriptions, car repairs, etc.
Have a great day Crew- P.C.
P.S. (Thanks for the correction in the last post Laura:)

Big Event Jan. 19

Hey Crew, are you ready for a great time at this months "Big event"? Saturday January 19 we will be leaving GLCC at 3:00 pm sharp and heading out to Pando winter sports park. The cost is $10 a person for un-limited tubing, (They have a tow rope! yea). You will need to bring a sack lunch or $$ for food while we are there. After tubing we will head back to the youth center for some refreshingly hot cocoa and guest speaker. This will be a great way to introduce your friends to Calvary Crew so go ahead and invite them all:)
Keep checking the blog as this will be a great place to stay on top of whats going on at the crew, I'll be updateing often. Pay close attention to the calendar on the right so you don't miss out on any of the fun.

First official post

Well here it is, the first official post on Calvary Crew's new blog. Through this blog you will be able to see what is going on at crew, up and coming events, where we have been etc. Please feel free to post a comment or two, and check back often for the most up to date........ whooa stop the presses!.... I just recieved a phone call from Dave VanderWoude, one of our fearless Quiz Team coaches. The Quizzers were at Jenison Bible today to finish the mid-west invitational that began in Chicago Ill. back in December. as you recall the quiz team left Chicago 7-0 in a four way tie for 1st place. They were un-defeated once again today as they went on to take first place out of the 18 teams from all around the mid-west (Iowa, Wisconson, Illinois and Michigan). Outstanding job Quiz Team!! Do I hear Nationals here we come?!
I will see about getting some pictures up in future post.
